Posh Paradise

From the first moment I laid eyes on MAC's new Posh Paradise collection I knew this was a collection worth taking a look at. Its one of the first MAC collections i've actually been excited about for a while now. The Posh Paradise collection inspired by the rare and exotic delights of the images paradise conjures. Lavishly lush nail lacquers, mattene lipsticks for semi matte lips with ultra pure colours in a super smooth formula light as lust on the lips, pearlised paint pits in seamlessly coverage shades. Boudoir Prive - The September Box

Another month, another 'beauty'fully filled Boudoir Prive Box. If you're not completely sure what Boudoir Prive is then simply click here to read a previous post all about them :) This box was a 'little' late but t'was worth waiting for!

Compared to last months' box ( click here to read ) the September contents its definitely more 'me' :)

So here's what was inside...

Hair Care - Macadamia Hair Repair 'Healing Oil Treatment'

I've recently really got into hair treatments so I was super happy to see this little gem! It smells scrumptious! Suitable for all hair types all you have to do is apply it to the ends of wet or dry hair. I tried this last night after washing my hair, its surprisingly quite thick however it didn't weigh down my hair, just adding a lovely silky smooth finish :)

£5.75 for 10ml/ £29.95 for 125ml

Lifestyle - Zoya Nail Polish in the Shade Marina

Another product that I was beyond excited to see! I've seen these polishes before in a little posh boutique near me that sells organic and natural beauty bits. Zoya natural nail polishes are 100% free of toxic Toluene, Formaldehyde and DBP and Winner of the 'Longest Wearing Nail Polish' (Woman’s Health Magazine). I had been looking at these polishes for a while now toying with the idea of spending £9.98 on a nail polish, they have some stunning shades, this being one of them! Marina is part of the new 'Smoke and Mirrors' Autumn/Winter collection. I'm really happy with this shade, its a gorgeous grey toned blue with slight shimmer. Will be painting this on tonight!

Body Care - Tropic Skincare 'Body Smooth'

If you watched the Apprentice then you'll have heard of finalist Susan Mai body and skincare line! The Body Smooth is 100% natural and enriched with moisturising Sea Minerals, Jojoba and Macadamia Oil. It smells very similar to my Sranrom’s Urban Wellness Calm Down hand cream which also smells incredible! Its lovely a citrusy, very tropical! Its quite a nice sized sample too :)

£19.95 for 200ml

Fragrance - Agent Provocateur 'L'Agent'

This is the new fragrance from Agent Provocateur and cost a whopping £70 for 100m;/£50 for 50ml, so you've gotta love it to buy it...for me? Nah not really, its nice but a little too strong for me. Its described as an oriental floral scent but they're right in saying 'you'll be the centre of attention'!

Skincare - Colbert MD Nourish Eye Cream

Another nice little surprise! The current 'it' skincare company made famous by users such as Kate Middleton and Sienna Miller this HAS to be good! It claims to rehydrate the skin around the eyes as well as helping to reduce puffiness and dark circles. Seeing as you only need a pea sized amount of eye cream hopefully this will go quite far :) *fingers crossed* Its an impressive 5ml sample! Especially when 15ml cost £90! Well done Boudoir Prive!

Makeup - Cargo Cosmetics Boogie Nights Eye Pencil in Blue

I quite like wearing coloured eyeliner on my lower lash line so this really appeals to me! Its a lovely deep royal blue shade with a bit of shimmer, not to keen on the shimmer but for nights out this will be perfect! The formula is very pigmented as well as being lovely and soft, it glides smoothly onto the skin. I'm quite excited to test this out, hopefully it'll be long lasting :)
£13 for a set of five ( very affordable! I might just have to see what the other colours are!)

Oh wait there's more! Within this months box was two extras! :)
A Zoya Smoke and Mirrors colour wheel which is quite handy to see what the other shades are in the collection,

And two Blot and Bronze blotting papers that add a touch of golden glow to your complexion. I'm intrigued to use these and to see how they work, hopefully I wont end up with a brown T zone :)

Overall I was really pleased with this months box, there's been some great samples! My favourite being the Zoya nail polish. It also seems that Boudoir Prive have really been taking on the comments of their subscribers and hopefully as each month passes they'll get better and better :)

Did you receive this months Boudoir Prive Box? What did you think? Did you have a favourite sample? :)

Dior Velvet Eyes

Perfect for those of us that have a bit of difficulty creating the perfect eyeliner shape. Dior 'Velvet Eyes' is a new beauty concept of eyeliner transfers that are currently available in Selfridges. These adhesive eyeliner patches can be repositioned for the perfect fit, they create the most fool proof of eyeliner shapes and flicks.

There are four styles designed by Dior makeup artists to choose from, the Effet Velours are matte black, Effect Brillian dazzle with micro Swarovski crystals and the last Effet Haute is designed with three Swarovski crystals on each of the outer corners.
A pack of the four different designs is £47
I think these look absolutely stunning, great for the girl strapped for time! Dramatic but simple to remove after a late night out! Ideal in my book! I'm hoping they'll be some affordable dupes available soon!
What do you think of these? Do you think they'll catch on?

My Current Reads

I love chatting books when I’m with my friends; which books we're reading at the moment, books we’ve just finished and our must have reads. Reading novels for me is a great way to unwind and relax, so really I tend to steer more towards light chic lit for an escape from the heavy going Uni books that aren’t so much of a 'zen'-ful experience! In this post I thought I’d share with you my ‘Current Reads’ J

The Carrie Diaries by Candice Bushnell

I am unbelievably excited about the prequel of Sex and the City! I cant wait! The TV show is apparently inspired by two books both written by "Sex and the City" creator Candice Bushnell, "The Carrie Diaries" and "Summer in the City: A Carrie Diaries Novel". I’ve read ‘The Carrie Diaries’ and am hoping to read the other soon too. With the anticipation of the new series I’m re-reading ‘The Carrie Diaries’, its ‘the coming-of-age story of one of the most iconic characters of Sex and The City, Carrie Bradshaw. Before Sex and the City, Carrie was a small town girl who knew she wanted more. She's ready for real life to start, but first she must navigate her senior year of high school.’ This book is everything you think of when you hear the term ‘chic lit’ it's got romance, gossip, high school banter and a feisty female heroine. I’m a huge fan of Candice Bushnell, another book I’ve loved of hers is ‘Lipstick Jungle’.

I Heart New York by Lindsey Kelk

I originally picked this book up whilst browsing a second hand bookshop because of my absolute obsession with New York. I’ve been to New York once before and I’ve never felt so happy and at home away from home. I can’t wait to go back and have been saving ever since! The deal breaker for me was that this book is actually written by a fellow beauty blogger!

If you want to check out Lindsey’s Beauty blog then click here. I Heart New York is the first in the I Heart series by Lindsey Kelk. I cant wait to get my teeth sunk into this book!

Makeup The Ultimate Guide by Rae Morris

Rae Morris has been a makeup artist for 15 years and has won the Australian makeup Artist of the year Award four times! With her amazing skills and top class creativity she has had a long list of celebrity clients including Cate Blanchett, Naomi Campbell and Pink. Starting out as a hairdresser, her career as a makeup artist has flourished and now she’s become an expert in the makeup scene. I’ve been reading this book on and off since I first brought it a few months ago and its definitely one to add to your collection. It's a great book full of gorgeous, glossy, full page photographs by the talented Steven Chee. Its packed with inspirational ideas for any makeup lover whether you’re a beginner or professional. It's a great book for hints, tricks and step-by-step instructions. I’m thoroughly happy with my decision to buy this and would recommend it to anyone!
Makeup Master class by Jemma Kidd

This book is very similar in structure to the previous book; it also contains lots of tips and step-by-step instructions. However, I think I like this book a bit more, its more informative and I’ve learnt a lot from Jemma Kidds’ book. It covers everything you need to know, helping you to use your make up to compliment your natural beauty as well as inspirational makeup tutorials. It has great tips on techniques and is very easy to follow. What I really like about this book is that it covers every skin type, season and age, so its great for everyone.
Are you reading any good books at the moment? Any suggestions? Have you read any of these? Did you enjoy them? I’d love to hear from you :)

Beauty On A Budget - Yogurt

Sometimes there’s nothing more satisfying than making a DIY beauty recipe, a quick rummage through the fridge can be full of goodies that can easily be used to make a great inexpensive beauty and feel good boost.

Part of my DIY beauty post series I try to put together a few inexpensive beauty recipes that can be used to help with many different beauty related issues. One of my favourite DIY ingredients is yoghurt, you can easily pick up a huge tub of yoghurt for as little as 50p so its perfect for using in an affordable yet luxurious DIY beauty recipe.

Yogurt is still used in natural ayurvedic remedies and many high-end beauty treatments so next time you’re spooning it into a bowl instead of onto your face, think again! Yogurt has lots of beauty benefits :)

For all of these recipe’s I recommend using natural yogurt.

Yogurt is great to use on your face as a Toning cleanser. It promotes the tightening of pores and is a great skin cleanser. If you have oily skin, yogurt is naturally astringent, so it can help to remove the unwanted oils from your face. Yogurt also contains lactic acid, an alpha hydroxyl acid (AHA) which is milder than other harsh exfoliants but still helps to rejuvenate your skin. Simply massage a couple of teaspoons of natural yoghurt onto your face (avoid the eye area), leave for about 10 minutes and rinse off with warm water. For the best results use full fat natural yogurt.

If you love using facemasks you can easily make a yogurty creamy mask. Using yogurt as a facemask is rich and luxuriously moisturising for the skin. All you need to do to prepare the mask is mix 1tbsp of yogurt with 2tsp of runny honey and a mashed up banana. As mentioned in a previous Beauty On A Budget post honey's a natural humectant, which can help your skin to retain water, keeping the skin soft and smooth. When the mix becomes a smooth paste spread the mask over your clean face, avoiding the delicate skin around your eyes and leave on for about10 minutes. Simple wash off with warm water and your skin should feel heavenly!

Yogurt is also great to use in your hair. The enzymes in yogurt are ideal for getting rid of product build-up leaving your hair super shiny. It can even soothe an itchy scalp! Beat an egg white until foamy, add 5-6tbsp of plain yogurt (this will vary depending how long and thick your hair is) also if you have dry hair you can add a bit of olive oil. Apply the smooth mixture onto your hair and leave for around 10 minutes, before washing it out with a gentle shampoo.

A well-known beauty use of yogurt is for after sun. In the times when you may have overdone it in the sunshine yogurt can help take the heat out of painful sunburn. For an added cooling puree or juice half a cucumber and mix it with cold live yogurt until it can be easily spread. All you have to do is apply it gently to the red areas, leave to dry, and then remove with a wet cloth.

Your hands and nails can also benefit from yogurt. To make a yoghurt hand cream combine 8 ounces of plain yogurt with the juice of one lemon. Return the mix to the fridge for several hours and then it can be used to massage into your hands and nails. Rinse and pat your hands dry and you should notice the difference. Your hands should be soft and supple. Another bonus is that you can even keep the mixture in refrigerator and use for up to 2 weeks!
When your feet aren’t looking their usual best yogurt can help to perk them up a bit. You can mix about half a cup of finely ground walnuts into 6-7 tablespoons of yogurt and use this as a scrub to improve the texture of your skin. It will also work in reviving the dry patches on your feet as the yogurt adds moisture back into the skin and the nuts help to exfoliate the rough spots. While you're rubbing it on your feet, you're still treating your hands, too – bonus!

Do you have any other uses for yogurt? Will you be doing any of these DIY recipes? I’d love to know how you found them :)

Festival of Fashion

Have you ever looked at an outfit in a magazine and wished you knew how to put together something like that? Or that you had the confidence to walk down the street wearing that killer dress with those to die for shoes? I’m definitely one for having a bit of a ‘moment’ sometimes before going out because I’m worried about what to wear.

So I was so pleased and impressed when I was told about the 3-hour confidence building sessions that are being held at the ‘Festival of Fashion’. Being able to help someone to feel confident in themselves, in the clothes, makeup, hairstyles they wear is an amazing thing to do.

The Festival of Fashion is being held at the Festival Place shopping mall in Basingstoke, Hampshire, on the 8th and 9th of October. Sorry if the event is too far from you but I wanted to share this with you to let you know about the event :) The Festival of Fashion has been designed to help build confidence, and also to show the fantastic fashion that’s currently available on the high street.

VIP tickets for the 3 hour Confidence building sessions only cost £10, with stylists, makeup artists and hairdressers offering expert advice on such things like which clothes suit your body shape and what style of hair cut best complements your face. Feeling great in an outfit, new hair cut or lip colour can completely transform the way you view and feel about yourself.

The weekend event is set to include a number of celebrity stylists and hairdressers such as Jason Smith and TV stylist Wendy Elsmore and. Fashion blogger Poppy Dinsey will also be there too!

For more information and to book a ticket click here

I think that with the pressure to look good all the time from the media is constantly increasing, so having the opportunity to work on self-esteem and confidence definitely appeals to me :)

One great piece of advice that was given to me by someone who I always admired was to ‘never try and change your body to fit the dress but to find a dress that fits you’

If any of you are close to the venue and are thinking of going i'd love to know :) Sadly I live to far but I hope something similar happens near to me!

London Calling, I Need Your Help!

In a few days I'm finally getting my shopping shoes on ( every girl needs a pair of these! :) ) and heading for London! Its been far far too long since my last visit...I'm talking years here! Due to my lack of London knowledge on finding the best shops to go to I thought I'd ask you :)

Any shops you recommend going to? Any areas/street I have to walk down? Where are the best places to stop for a bite to eat?

I'm planning on making a full day of it! Going to well known superstores on Oxford Street but I also hopefully popping into little boutiques and markets in search of some good bargains.

:) Any suggestions would be great :) whether you think its obvious or not, I need all the help I can get!

Thank you :)

Oh and :ook out for a London Shopping Trip post to come :) ! x

NOTD -Revlons' Smoky Canvas

Mentioned in my August Favourites this nail polish by Revlon is Smoky Canvas. It has fast become one of my favourite autumn nail polishes.

Not a shade a usually am drawn too I picked this up spontaneously whilst browsing around in Superdrug. This soft grey nail polish shade is part of their new autumn collection, I adore the slight brown grey tone of this polish, I find it goes with everything, giving a polished feel to any outfit.

The formula is very opaque and you only need 1 to 2 coats. I really like the applicator brush and the polish is extremely long lasting, it doesn't chip easily.

Now i'm on the look out for a nice beige toned/nude nail polish if anyone has any suggestions :) , Id love to hear them :) ? Thanks

The Goss On The Gloss 'The September Glossy Box'

I was recently contacted by Glossy Box and asked whether I would be interested in receiving their September Glossy Box to review. Having heard and read a lot about Glossy Box; a mix of the good the bad and the unsure, I thought this would be a great opportunity to give you my opinion too :)

Let me start off by telling you a bit more about Glossy Box, for all of you that know what i'm talking about already :) feel free to skip this part and get right to the juicy bits!

Glossy Box is a monthly subscription service similar to that of Boudoir Prive which I've also blogged about here. Each month you receive a luxurious box filled with a surprise mix of five carefully selected, high end miniature beauty samples from hair, beauty, scent to body care. The subscription is £12.95 per month (including P&P) with no minimum subscription term, compared to £10 for Boudoir Prive.

Glossy Box aims to provide women with the luxury, time and space to try out products at home. Giving them the opportunity to get the feel of new products on the market away from the stress and bustle of the shops, as well as introducing them to products that they wouldn't normally pick up, try or hear about.

Also included each month are discount codes sometimes up to 25% off to use if you wish to purchase the full size product! And as a reward for feedback on your samples you'll receive GlossyDots towards redeeming a free box.

Now on to my September Glossy Box :)
This months box is themed around '5 Future Classics'

I must admit that when I see anything that arrives in the mail that isn't a bill or a piece of junk mail I instantly get excited. Being ultra careful not to read any September Glossy Box spoilers I couldnt wait to see what was inside the girly package that arrived at my door this morning! And this is what I saw....

The box included two large samples of the Dead Sea Spa Magik Salt Brushing Exfoliator

Voted best exfoliator by You magazine, I can't wait to use this pampering body exfoliator! Each packet is an impressive 50g each! Not bad for a miniature sample :)

Next is an Eau De Parfum sample of 'Plum' by Mary Greenwell

I'll admit that had never heard of Mary Greenwell before (Should I?) Known as a true British icon of style and beauty, she is one of the worlds’s most sought after and influential makeup artists. Plum is Mary's signature fragrance and on first impressions I quite like it. Its a lovely fresh, fruity and unique scent which I shall definitely be wearing. Subtle but memorable.

An Exquisite Rejuvenating Facial System by Kimia

Which is a 100% natural skin care combination that gently reaches the deeper layers of your skin, to nourish and heal the damaging signs of ageing. This facial system sample contains an exquisite face oil sample which is for using after cleansing and a hydra activator sample that can be used afterwards. I'm quite intrigued and look forward to using this bio activated product.

A full size! Neal and Wolf Harmony Intensive Care treatment

This intensive conditioning treatment its specially designed to repair damaged hair leaving it healthy and managable. I love using hair masks on my hair so this product is going to be thoroughly used! I can't wait to try this out! And i'm sure a review will follow in the near future :) Again a super impressive 200ml not so 'mini' sample!

Now for my most excited product! The HD Brows Eyes and Brows Palette

I could not believe my eyes when I saw this placed neatly in the corner of the Glossy Box! I've seen this product being mentioned by numerous bloggers and about how amazing it is! Sadly the palette in my Glossy Box is in the 'Bombshell' shade for Blondes but the shades look like they'll be fine to use, if not for my brows as eye shadow :) Astonishingly retailed at £19.95 I couldn't be more overwhelmed. Amazing.

I'm so excited i'm off to try this out now, I just can't wait any longer :)
before I go, over all I am really impressed with Glossy Box. I think that they are doing a really great job so far. They seem to respond well to feedback from subscribers and offer great samples for its users, not only by containing full size versions of products but by including well known, high end brands. I think that if they help their subscribers to find at least one new product that they're happy each month that its a sucess. Of course not all of the products in each months box might interest you, so having an open mind in trying new brands, products and enjoying new discoveries is key when thinking about signing up.

I hope that you found this helpful :)

In time for christmas Glossy Box subscriptions will be available to be purchased as a gift and  there are also plans for a men's box containing 5 products, but on a less frequent basis.

Are you a beauty box subscriber? Do you subscribe to Glossy Box? Were you happy with your surprise samples this month? I'd love to hear what you received and what you think :)
